Artist's Description
This mixed media image began with a photograph of Jennifer O'Neil in an off moment from a fashion shoot I did around 1973 in Puerto Rico for Harper's Bazaar, when I was shooting fashion for magazines and advertising in NYC in the 1970s. I created the designs by hand directly on the photograph with pen & ink and paint. Then I re-photographed the finished piece and digitized it for making multiple prints available.
About Steve Ladner
In the early 1970s I created a fashion photography studio in New York City. I was shooting for GQ, Harpers Bazaar, Esquire, Town&Country, other magazines, and cosmetic campaigns for Revlon, Chanel, and others. In the 1980s I lived in France and shot for French Vogue and other fashion magazines and advertising accounts. I always approached the work as an art and did my best to make commercial work as artistic as I could make it given the restrictions. Some of my fashion work now has a vintage fashion art appeal. I believe the images I chose transcend their original purpose and are interesting in their color, composition, emotion, and form.
